ENCORE!!! is the dba for inventor and entrepreneur George S. Nauck of Lakeland, Florida. The enterprise began in 1992 following an engineering and management career in the Oil, Gas, Rubber, and Plastics industries.
We set out to add value for golfers on practice ranges by tracking and remotely measuring golf shots from teeing locations. We used NASA to identify the best available technology and leading technology resources. We chose Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to assist in proving feasibility and building a portable video based system for remote shot measurements. At the request of major golfball manufacturers, we developed the Spin Detective, the first system capable of measuring golf shot spin and velocity continuously anywhere on shot trajectory, bounce, and roll. The Spin Detective was the basis for a technical paper presented at the World Scientific Congress of Golf at St. Andrews, Scotland.
